What is a "Detailed Evaluation Plan"?

The new IMPACT local planning process is moving toward an evaluation process where districts create distinctive, detailed, local evaluation indicators for each of their four technology goals. These evaluation plans have the following components:

• A locally relevant evaluation question for each goal
• A detailed evaluation indicator that describes specifically what one would expect to "see" if the goal were successfully implemented
• A set of benchmarks - organized into a rubric - that detail differential levels of success in implementing the goal
• A data collection plan that makes use of qualitative as well as quantitative (survey) data, along with a mapping showing how that data will support assertions of progress within the benchmarked indicator

In the 2006/2007 school year, 5 AL districts pioneered this process. Approximately a dozen more will pilot the process in the 2007/2008 school year. Training will be provided by ALSDE to support all districts in the creation of these detailed evalaution plans by 2012.
